Word on the street has it that the singer for Juliette and the Licks, Lewis herself, will be hosting the Vodafone Live Music Awards coming up in September. As per usual it will be an open venue with bands showing up to strut their stuff on stage between award announcements, those announcements made based on internet votes cast by eager fans.

Lewis will be the third host for the Vodafone awards, given that this is the third annual version of ‘em to come around. Good stuff, good stuff.

The film’s premise is that three grown men, looking to re-live their college days in a kind of attempt to escape their problems, start a fraternity to blow off some steam and have a good time. But before they can do that they need to come together; and that’s where Lewis comes in.

Lewis plays the part of Heidi, girlfriend to Mitch (who’s played by Wilson). Unbeknownst to to Mitch, however, Heidi is a fairly ‘free’ girl who engages in threesomes while he’s away on business trips. Despite her insistence that the threesomes are purely sexual in nature, however, Heidi loses Mitch and he moves out on her to seek better fortunes elsewhere.

That’s pretty much the only part Lewis plays in the film, actually. Once the threesome is over her role is complete. A shame, but, oh well. What follows is a relatively shallow but purely fun comedy.

First formed in 2003, Juliette and the Licks released their debut EP Like a Bolt of Lightning in 2004, which was followed soon after by You’re Speaking My Language. That album served as the spawning point for their best known single of the same name, “You’re Speaking My Language”. They have since released a second album, Four on the Floor, as of 2006, and continue to travel and play when time permits.

The band’s members (aside from Lewis herself) include Emilio Cueto on guitar, Jason Womack on bass, Ed Davis on drums and Craig Fairbaugh on guitar.

Kalifornia tells the story of Brian Kessler (Duchovney) and his girlfriend Carrie Laughlin (Forbes) preparing to make a cross-country journey so that they may start a life in California. On the way, however, they come across Early Grace (Pitt), a former prisoner on parole who is looking to leave the state and head to California, and his naive girlfriend Adele Corners (Lewis). Grace agrees to share the expenses of the trip with Kessler.

It turns out, however, that Grace has no trouble killing people, and after a manhunt is discovered to be underway Grace takes the whole car captive and continues onward to California, now the party in charge. After a number of murders - including a harmless old man - however, Corners can’t stand Grace’s vicious streak and leaves him. Grace, infuriated and snubbed, kills his girlfriend and takes off with Laughlin, leaving Kessler for dead.

What follows is a chilling chase to stop Grace before he can claim any more lives, Laughlin’s included, and a climactic scene that leaves no doubt as to Grace’s eventual fate.

But who, when speaking of Brad Pitt, is Juliette Lewis?

Though not quite as well known as her ex-boyfriend, Juliette Lewis has starred in her share of films and done lots of acting work. Her level of stardom never quite managed to reach Pitt’s own, however, and after they parted ways she may have decided the time was ripe to take a potshot at him; consequently she has implied both through her music and conversations with friends that Pitt has a small penis.

Fact? Fiction? There’s no way to know unless Pitt decides to do some nude scenes in the future. And even if it is small, how many women out there are really going to care? It’s Brad Pitt!

Her eclectic resume includes supporting roles in comedies such as National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, the over-the-top vampire flick From Dusk Til Dawn, and everything in between. When she’s not appearing in films, however, Lewis lends her unique vocal style and stage presence to her band Juliette and the Licks. Juliette’s first wide musical exposure came in 1995, when she contributed her version of PJ Harvey’s “Hardly Wait” to the soundtrack for Strange Days, the Kathryn Bigelow film.

However, “Hardley Wait” was released a full eight years before Lewis formed Juliette and the Licks. Since then, Juliette Lewis has recorded three full-length albums and one EP. Critical response to Juliette and the Licks’ hard rock sound has been positive. They have even enjoyed a spot on the stage during the Vans Warped Tour. Juliette Lewis has been busy working on Catch and Release, a movie, but audiences can hardly wait to see Juliette and the Licks hit the stage and studio again.
